ARTICLE I
Loitering
[Adopted as Ch. XI, Sec. 1 of the 1974 bylaws]

§ 129-1.        Prohibited Activity.

        No person shall be or remain upon any sidewalk or doorway, stairs, public passageway to any church or public hall or office or upon any step, portico or other projections from any house or other buildings to the obstruction of any persons lawfully entitled to pass, inhabit or resort thereto, and no person shall sit or be upon any wall,
fence, railing, bank or doorstep facing upon any public way or public place, not being the owner or occupant of the premises, after being requested by the owner or occupant of the premises to remove therefrom.


ARTICLE II
Deposit of Litter into Watercourses
[Adopted 5-2-1977 ATM, Art. 19]

§ 129-2.        Prohibited activity.

        No person shall deposit, cast or throw in or into any river, brook or watercourse in the town, or the bed thereof, or on or onto the banks adjacent thereto, any refuse, ashes, garbage, offal or any junked or discarded articles.


ARTICLE III
Use of Scooters, Skateboards and Roller Skates
[Added 10-4-1993 STM, Art 18, Ch. 204]

§ 129-3.        Permit required for use in certain areas.

        No person shall utilize a scooter, skateboard, roller skates or similar equipment, or engage in any other athletic game on the streets, sidewalks, or public parking lots designated below unless a permit or order shall have been given by the Board of Selectmen:

A.      Main Street, from St. James Place to Cottage Street.
B.      Bridge Street, from Main Street to School Street.
C.      Railroad Street, for its entire length.
D.      Castle Street, from Main Street to the Railroad Overpass.
E.      Elm Street, for its entire length.
F.      Church Street, for its entire length.

§ 129-4.        Location of safe areas for use.

        The Town Manager is directed to, in a timely manner, coordinate efforts to locate safe areas where the young people of Great Barrington can utilize a scooter, skateboard, roller skates or other similar equipment.


§ 129-5.        Additional Streets to which regulations are applicable. [Added 5-16-1994]

        This article shall also apply to the following streets located in the village of Housatonic:

A.      Main Street, for its entire length.
B.      Depot Street, for its entire length.
C.      Pleasant Street, for its entire length.
D.      Front Street, for its entire length.
E.      Cottage Street, for its entire length.
F.      Kirk Street, for its entire length.
G.      High Street, for its entire length.
H.      Prospect Street, for its entire length.
I.      Grove Street, for its entire length.
